DR ZAHIER EBRAHIM

MBChB(UCT), MMed Neurosurgery(SU), FC Neurosurgery(SA)

Dr. Zahier Ebrahim is passionate about neurosurgery and its ability to treat patients with some of the most challenging and debilitating conditions. In pursuit of his passion he has accumulated a wealth of knowledge and expertise.

Cape Town born and bred, Dr. Ebrahim cites a devoutly religious upbringing and the loss of a brother at a young age as factors that contributed to his decision to pursue a career in medicine. He completed the memorization of the Quran in 2001 and received his MBChB from University of Cape Town in 2007. It was during his internship that Dr. Ebrahim developed a keen interest in neurosurgery. Following community service, he took up a Medical Officer post in the department of Neurosurgery at Groote Schuur Hospital in 2011. In 2012, he moved to Tygerberg Hospital to start his Neurosurgery registrar programme.

MARCIA JUMAT

Front Office Administrator

Marcia is a self-starter with a passion for helping people, qualities she’s pleased to put to work in her role as Front Office Administrator for Neurosurgeon Dr MZ Ebrahim. She grew up in Stellenbosch, the sole girl in a family of four brothers, one of whom has since passed away. She completed her Grade 12 in Cloetesville while working part time at McDonalds, Stellenbosch and went on to further her studies via short courses in administration.

While studying and part time working at McDonalds she found a program to volunteer in private hospitals and went on to join the Medistaff group, volunteering at Stellenbosch Mediclinic. She was subsequently placed in Milnerton Mediclinic, where she remains. Here Marcia worked in all the departments available on contract and also undertook ambulance training, completing level 5.

She was then permanently employed in ward D, the surgical department, before moving to the Doctors’ block where she began her new adventure assisting Dr Ebrahim in the smooth running of his busy practice. Sporty and adventurous, in her free time Marcia is equally at home on the shooting range and the ballet studio, the latter pursuit being close to her heart since she was a small girl. More recently she has taken on weight training and aerobics, as well as a weekly Piyo session.
